Tucked away at Rural Retreat is Studio Alouette – a purpose built residential recording studio. Along with our accommodation, it’s perfect for bands to get away from the distractions & demands of everyday life. Your band can focus on working on music projects & the creative process of writing & recording, while we take care of everything else!
We offer 2 choices – dry hire with your own engineer or our in-house specialist. Joe Woolf, our resident musician, technician, producer & engineer, manages the studio should you prefer extra support.
The Recording Studio
Our impressive 28 channel analogue desk, a wide variety of quality instruments, amps and microphones means that you don’t need to transport valuable and fragile equipment. Just turn up and get started!
The spacious acoustically treated live room is both a rehearsal room & recording studio & recordings are managed from the sunny & comfortable control room.

Residential Hospitality
Our accommodation is perfect for bands & groups. The Dortoir is a quiet, dark room to sleep & the spacious wet rooms have plentiful hot water, towels & toiletries. Breakfast & an optional 2 course evening meal are provided at a time to suit your recording schedule.
You can shop locally to buy your fresh local French breads, cheeses, pate & fruit for lunch & enjoy our outdoor spaces for eating. In our new outdoor kitchen, we provide facilities & equipment to prepare & store food, snacks & drinks.
Pricing for your group
Our accommodation pricing is based on the exclusive use of our premises for your group. Prices start at €90 per night for 2 people, €135 for a trio, €200 for 4-6 people & €250 for 7-8 people.
Included in the price is bed, breakfast & home cooked evening meal with tea & coffee available all day. An outdoor kitchen provides facilities for your group to cook, prepare & store food & drink for lunches & snacks.
In addition, we offer two options for the Studio pricing per day, either with or without a studio engineer to work on your project. With your own sound engineer, the studio dry hire is €150 per day & with our in-house engineer is €250.
