Our catered group accommodation in France sits within two hectares of peaceful farmland in Confolens, Charente, in South West France. This rural retreat offers a calm, comfortable base for small groups seeking rest, connection, & nourishment.

The original farmhouse dates back nearly 150 years & holds the distinction of being the highest house in the commune, with far-reaching views across the gently rolling Charente countryside.

We love to look after you so you can enjoy your time away, relax & immerse yourself in your retreat. We do the work while you do the break!

Dortoir Rural Retreat France

Comfortable Group Accommodation

We have carefully restored the attached barn to create a warm, modern, & spacious Dortoir (shared sleeping room), while preserving the beautiful architectural features typical of a traditional Charentais farm.

Our small group residential accommodation includes:

  • 8 built-in cabin beds with extra-wide memory foam mattresses
  • Four-season quilts, blankets, & choice of pillows
  • Privacy curtains for each bed
  • Reading lights, UK plug adapters, hooks, hanging rails, & cupboard storage

Every detail supports quiet rest & comfort, making this an ideal group retreat accommodation in rural France.

Bathrooms & Amenities

The spacious, heated bathroom facilities include:

  • A disabled-access wet room
  • A second separate shower room
  • Toilets and sinks

A dedicated dry area provides space for dressing & changing, along with a sink, large mirror, electric socket, & hairdryer. We supply dressing gowns, high-quality bath sheets, & ecological toiletries including soap, shampoo, shower wash, & toothpaste. Emergency supplies such as toothbrushes, razors, & women’s hygiene products are also available.

Catered Group Retreats

Catered Vegetarian Meals

All meals are freshly prepared on site each day. We provide a catered vegetarian retreat experience, using wholefoods & avoiding pre-prepared or additive-laden products. Wherever possible, we source ingredients locally, and during the summer months we supply our own vegetables & herbs from our allotment.

Guests have access to:

  • A fridge & freezer for your group food & drinks
  • A summer kitchen open day & night for tea, coffee, soup, & snacks

We do not supply alcohol, but wine & beer are available from a local supermarket just 1 km away.

Catered Residential Accommodation

Continental Breakfast Included

A continental breakfast is served daily and includes:

  • Coffee, tea, & fruit juices
  • Warm croissants, brioche, or toast
  • Fruit, yoghurts, & cereals (varied daily)
  • Honey & jam

In colder weather, we also serve warming porridge & hot chocolate for an extra touch of comfort.

Dinner on Retreat France

Flexible Lunch & Shared Evening Cooking

If you prefer to stay on site & avoid shopping or preparing lunch, we can provide a simple midday meal for a small supplement. Lunch options may include local French cheeses, fresh bread, fruit, soup, & for the final lunch, a hot French speciality for a true taste of the region. Alternatively, you can buy your own food for lunches & enjoy it here or picnic in town by the river.

In the early evening, we often prepare the meal together (optional). We cook a delicious two-course vegetarian Plat du Jour, followed by a homemade pudding. Sharing the cooking experience creates a relaxed, social way to unwind after the day’s activities & is a much-loved part of staying at our catered group accommodation in France.

We can accommodate a vegan diet & cater for some allergies and intolerances. If you have a very limited diet, either through choice or health reasons, we will do our best to accommodate you, but we are unable to cook separate meals. You are welcome to buy & prepare your own food to supplement the meals on offer.
