Where Will I Be Staying?

Our catered residential accommodation in France sits within over two hectares of peaceful farmland in Confolens, Charente, in South West France. This rural retreat offers a calm, comfortable base for small groups seeking rest, connection, and nourishment.

The original farmhouse dates back nearly 150 years and holds the distinction of being the highest house in the commune, with far-reaching views across the gently rolling Charente countryside.

Comfortable Group Accommodation

We have carefully restored the attached barn to create a warm, modern, and spacious Dortoir (shared sleeping room), while preserving the beautiful architectural features typical of a traditional Charentais farm.

Our small group residential accommodation includes:

  • 8 built-in cabin beds with extra-wide memory foam mattresses
  • Four-season quilts, blankets, and supportive pillows
  • Privacy curtains for each bed
  • Reading lights, UK plug adapters, hooks, hanging rails, and cupboard storage

Every detail supports quiet rest and comfort, making this an ideal group retreat accommodation in rural France.

The spacious, heated bathroom facilities include:

  • A disabled-access wet room
  • A second separate shower room
  • Toilets and sinks

A dedicated dry area provides space for dressing and changing, along with a sink, large mirror, electric socket, and hairdryer. We supply dressing gowns, high-quality bath sheets, and toiletries including hand soap, shampoo, shower gel, and toothpaste. Emergency supplies such as toothbrushes, razors, and women’s hygiene products are also available.

Catered Vegetarian Meals

All meals are freshly prepared on site each day. We provide a catered vegetarian retreat experience, using wholefoods and avoiding pre-prepared or additive-laden products. Wherever possible, we source ingredients locally, and during the summer months we supply our own vegetables and herbs from our allotment.

Guests have access to:

  • A fridge and freezer for personal food and drinks
  • A summer kitchen open day and night for tea, coffee, soup, and snacks

We do not supply alcohol, but wine and beer are available from a local supermarket just 1 km away.

Continental Breakfast Included

A continental breakfast is served daily and includes:

  • Coffee, tea, and fruit juices
  • Warm croissants, brioche, or toast
  • Honey, jam, fruit, yoghurts, and cereals (varied daily)

In colder weather, we also serve warming porridge and hot chocolate for an extra touch of comfort.

Flexible Lunch & Shared Evening Cooking

If you prefer to stay on site and avoid shopping or preparing lunch, we can provide a simple catered midday meal for a small supplement. Lunch options may include local French cheeses, fresh bread, fruit, soup, and for the final lunch, a hot French speciality for a true taste of the region.

In the early evening, we often prepare the meal together. We cook a delicious two-course vegetarian Plat du Jour, followed by a homemade pudding. Sharing the cooking experience creates a relaxed, social way to unwind after the day’s activities and is a much-loved part of staying at our catered group accommodation in France.

We can accommodate a vegan diet and cater for some allergies and intolerances. If you have a very limited diet, either through choice or health reasons, we will do our best to accommodate you, but we are unable to cook separate meals. You are welcome to buy and prepare your own food to supplement the meals on offer.
